Ikemefuna Nwosu is an educator at Lake Land College in Mattoon, Illinois. These wise words from Lawrence Kubie guide Ike’s approach to life and work “…the ultimate goal of education is to help the person become a human being, as fully human as he can possible be.”
Professionally, he is committed to facilitating self-awareness, development, and the engagement of one’s potential regardless of where one’s strengths lie. He has applied this focus both in and outside the classroom.
Ike has been at Lake Land College since 2002. He was a student, worked as a student tutor, and eventually became a tenured faculty member three years after receiving his master’s degree in Biosciences. His first official leadership role started as Division Chair of Math and Science in 2015. In 2022, Ike began his new role as Vice President of Academic Services, where he administers and supervises all academic operations of the college, including strategic planning, development, administration, supervision, and evaluation of academic programs and personnel. He is completing his doctoral dissertation in Community College Leadership through
Ferris State University.
Every year, graduating students from Lake Land College are asked to select “Someone who Made a Difference” in their college experience. Between 2009 and 2021, Ike has been selected by 41 students as making a difference.
Ike is a committed Chelsea fan who loves to travel and is a self-appointed Cheesecakeaficionado. He is sadly estranged from his massive stamp collection due to life’s many commitments.
